Wahoo cycling computers have become very popular. I use my Wahoo Roam for workouts, but also for cycle touring.

When planning a workout, I work out the route on Komoot, save it and my Wahoo Roam automatically downloads the route, ready to start navigating.

I would like to have the same workflow when using cycle.travel, but right now I have to download the TCX file, connect my phone to my device via Bluetooth, and then use the Wahoo app to transfer the route to my Roam. Not very handy...

A more user-friendly, Komoot-like integration would look like this:

  1. Plan a route on cycle.travel
  2. Save it to your profile
  3. Sync your Wahoo device

Wahoo offer an API (https://developers.wahooligan.com/), but I don't know what effort is needed to implement the feature. Have you guys at cycle.travel looked into the option of adding Wahoo integration? I would love to offer a helping hand, but while I have a background in IT, I am not very familiar with web development.

Oh, now that’s interesting. A year or so ago, Wahoo promised that they would be introducing an API (the “Wahoo Cloud API”) to enable this. They had a page saying “sign up to hear more details when this is available “, so I did. I’ve checked back a few times over the past year and it’s always said “coming soon”.

It now finally appears to be available, but they haven’t mailed their waiting list about it! Hey ho. I’ll have a look into it now that it appears to be released.

Thank you for looking into this. As far as I have seen, their API docs only describe ways to get rider information and upload workouts, but it may be incomplete.

Be careful what you wish for. Perhaps I'm missing a trick, but I upload my rides to RWGPS. I had quite a few routes saved in RWGPS and they all synched across to the Roam, so I had loads of routes to scroll through when I wanted to pick one to use. I wasn't able to find a way to upload my rides to RWGPS, but not the routes from RWGPS to the Roam. So I deleted all of my routes from RWGPS. I keep my routes on C.T and wouldn't want them all synching across to the Roam or the companion app. Hope that makes sense.

Yeah you're right, routes on cycle.travel tend to be quite long and would take up a lot of space on the device. Maybe only sync selected tracks or folders?

To be honest, I'm with Graham on this. Be very careful what you wish for. It's a PITA to when the unit syncs with accounts like Komoot and pulls all routes down. Then my unit fills up with lots and lots of irrelevant routes. It's not a memory problem, it's finding the right one is the problem.

On an android phone I open the cycle.travel file, download it, click on the downloaded file and have the option to open it in a variety of apps - one of which is the Elemnt App. Job done.

It also means I have a copy of the file on the phone for sharing or if I have no internet connection.

I personally prefer this to the other "sync account" options.

Sorry Richard! :-)

HobbsOnTour I'm sort of hoping nothing happens for the reasons discussed above, as C.T is my route repository. My plan B if C.T is changed to allow synching is not to select C.T as a synch option in the companion app and carry on as I am.

I’ve asked Wahoo if they have any option to upload routes with their new Cloud API.

With Garmin Connect, cycle.travel only sends a route on request – it doesn’t automatically sync them. I’d anticipate doing the same if Wahoo open up their API; I agree that syncing is more trouble than it’s worth.

Wahoo have confirmed that facility isn’t available yet but it’s “on their roadmap”.

I recently read a review about Lezyne Mini GPS Computer and ordered it on Amazon for my road bike. Do you think Wahoo is better than it?

According to adam wilson, Lezyne Mini GPS computer is better. what do you say about it? I am really confused while choosing the right one
