Morris and the Mini might have made Oxford the ‘Motor Town’ of the Home Counties, but the famous university means Oxford has a fine cycling tradition too.
You won’t find much London-style cycle chic here – fixies and clean coloured wheels are rare – but simply lots of people, young and old, getting about their daily business on a motley assortment of bikes. Drivers, especially those piloting the city’s endless succession of buses down the narrow streets, know to look out for cyclists and accidents are fairly rare.
