The largest cycle path network in any British city is, of course, Birmingham’s 100-mile canal system – green, quiet and traffic-free. And though the city’s roads have never been renowned for their bike-friendliness, the picture is improving.
England’s second city is some way off breaking into even the top 10 for cycling. Still, after a long, fallow period, more cyclists are taking to the streets of Birmingham. Plan your travels carefully, and a bike is a fun and efficient way to get about.
