Is it possible to plan a route on the android app and then save it to ones phone to allow transfer to a gps device?

Or is it now expected that planning of routes now only really occurs on the website and then one downloads it to phone then to GPS?

It appears that the only time the "save" option appears is once having downloaded a route from ones route folder and then stopped navigation which starts automatically.

When opening a route on the app, from ones route folder, the app automatically goes into "navigation" mode. Is it possible to just have a review mode or "start Navigation" button?

Many thanks

Neal

I do note that in the Using App and Website Helo page and the paragraph "What’s the difference between the website and the app?" Planning appears to be expected to be done on website and routing on App.

This doesnt help too much when away and only working from a small screen phone.

Njigsaw, I can assure you that planning a route on the website on the phone is entirely feasible.

However, the ability to download a route created in the app for use in an external gos device already exists.

Open the route

Click on 'Save' (bottom left)

This produces several options - choose 'Export to GPS'

Your GPX file will be downloaded to your 'Downloads' folder (although individual android devices may use a different folder).

Alternatively, opening the website on your phone, going to 'My Journeys' will allow you to save the route from there.

Yep, the Save option should always be there if you've planned a route. There isn't really a "navigation mode" as such – the app will give you directions when it detects that you're moving, but that doesn't stop you planning a route while you're at your desk or wherever.

I understand and happy with saving a route from app that has been selected from previously saved routes created via website. It was the distinct ability to create a route ON THE APP and save that NEW route VIA THE APP alone.

If I plan a route on app ,even if just simply between two close points, i dont get the ability (or im not enabling it somehow) to save that route. The app only seems to provide me with navigation or the close/ stop navigation option.

See attached screenshots. Route suggested by app. Only STOP navigation offered and then once stopped route is gone and save etc greyed out. I have to liad a website created route to the app to be able to save it. No create and save on app appears possible

If i open a route on app from my saved website routes/ routes folder, make an amendment, i sometimes appear to be able save from app. If i make no changes to a route sourced from "route folder" sometimes I can save.

This functionality seems to come and go

If i create simple route on app whether by dropping pins or using the PLAN tab i can only navigate the route. Once stopped the save button only provides me with greyed out options.

As such what is intended use of Save button and options?

'Stop' gets rid of the route. Don't click Stop.

I think you might have the "Show toolbar when navigating" setting turned off – if you hide the toolbar, you won't have the Save option. Go to 'Settings' and turn that option back on.

Have you tried clicking on 'save'? That works for me on my Android app.

If not, maybe supply details of your phone and version of Android.

You're welcome, by the way.

Right.

Yes it is the navigation tool bar setting that is my issue. I had it turned off to create more space on my screen.

My ability to save previously was before I'd turned that option off. Not twigged that this would remove the save options.

Easy once you know.

THANK YOU ONE and ALL.
