Direct to next, when "next" is not on a right of way

Hi

I want to make a short tile-hunting detour up a lane then u-turn and back down again - pointing North West at marker "1" here - https://cycle.travel/map/journey/839898

Cycle.travel won't let me go up that lane, presumably the mapping says there is no right of way. I've had a look on street view and I think it might be possible, I would at least like to give it a try.

The purpose of my query is not to question the accuracy of the mapping, but rather to understand if I can add this detour to my route, regardless of the mapping data. I know I can use "direct to next" to make a straight line between two points, but as far as I can work out, this only works if both points are considered rights of way on the mapping. I would like to go "direct to next" from marker "1" to a point on the lane not considered a right of way, then back again.

Is there a way of doing this? Or if not, triggering some sort of reminder?

Many thanks

So far as I know, we need to be able to place a viapoint in order to use the 'Direct to' feature.

However, depending on your process there are at least 2 ways of setting a reminder.

The first is to use the 'add note' feature at VP1 - 'Turn left here' will show up in Cue sheets and possibly on a gps unit (depends on unit)

The second is to add a marker (and a note) which can be independent of the route. This should show up on the app and be visible anytime you open the route on the website.
