iI, I try to save or upload longer journeys Spain -> Denmark  eg. Every time I try to save it nothing happens or uploading a bigger GPX (4MB) nothing is possible.

Could you please fix this soon, as I want to use your tool the next days?

You might try to break it down into smaller segments. This might help. We did 300k+ segments and had a few challenges.

regrad – could you give a few more details of what exactly you’re trying to do? If I plan (say) Madrid to Copenhagen and then download a GPX track, it works fine. Could you walk me through what you’re doing so I can try and locate the problem?

I did create route by starting with start and end point. Then add various stops in between. I think I had very nicely routed result with around 20 added points to get more precision. Like keeping the track on cyclist routes eg. or adding accommodations, too. I think the route itself was around 1200km. I the end I pressed the save button gave it a name and assumed it is in my routes list, but it wasn't added.

Downloading another example (made with your page) got me a file of 4MB. I did try to upload this, but it was too large to process. Therefore, I assume there must be upper limit of GPX size which can be processed internally or via export/import.

It might be good to set it up to 5MB max eg.

Eek – sorry it didn’t save. That really shouldn’t happen and I’ll look into that.

The GPX upload has a size limit because it has to ‘reconstruct’ the via points on the route – these aren’t stored in the GPX file, and working them out needs a lot of server power.

But if you can email the GPX to me at [email protected], I’ll get it manually uploaded for you.

While I think of it. Maybe, a quick solution would be to just split such routes with many via points into separate GPX files using the via points. Then Save will just add them all as list. Then the server power should be fine and users can reload each section easily. .

Later the download option would offer both a list of separate download links (eg. bz2/zip)  for each section and one for downloading the complete route as given.

Would it be possible to plan the long route required, but have an option to break it down into sections from same screen

e.g.  plan route Oxford to Durham

Using Turn by Turn  select first section from Turn 1 to turn 110 and have save option for saving that section

the same for turn 110 - 243, and so on

Advantage is you can plan the whole route and save it from same screen.
