Clare, the process of transferring a route to a Wahoo unit is very straightforward. 

1 Download the route

2 Load the route in the Wahoo app

3 Once in the app, the route is availble on the unit. 

You haven't made clear whether you are referring to the app or website but the process is similar.

On the website (on your phone is best), under 'Route tools' click on the 'GPS' symbol. You'll see this:

On the bottom click on 'More download options' to see this:

I use a Wahoo unit and always choose 'TCX course'.

Now you have a downloaded the tcx file.

The next step is to 'load' that tcx file into your Wahoo app.

I don't use Apple but in Android I can click on the downloaded tcx file and choose 'Open with', choosing the Wahoo app. You'll need something similar for your system. How do you normally open a downloaded file on your phone?

If you've downloaded to your computer, you can email the file to yourself, open that email on your phone and carry out the above step.

Once the route is in the Wahoo app, it will be available on your unit. 

Alternatively, there will be a way to download the route directly from the iphone app but since I don't have an iphone I can't explain that step by step. You should find it under 'Save' and 'Export to gpx'.

A complication can often lie in not being able to 'find' the downloaded file on the phone. 

If going on a a long trip like a LeJog, it is probably a good idea to be very comfortable with the process of creating, saving, downloading & transferring routes between CT & the Wahoo. Confidence in our equipment reduces anxiety and makes the ride more enjoyable.

I would just add that the procedure is slightly different depending on the age of your Wahoo.

Newer Wahoos use the "Wahoo Fitness" app.

Older devices use the "Wahoo Element" app.

I guess you will have installed the correct one when you set up your Wahoo.

Either way, you can locate the downloaded file by following Apple's guidance:

Then, as Hobbes says, there should be an option to "open with". Once into the relevant Wahoo app, follow their online guidance.

I see what you're saying, Reg, and I don't doubt it would be helpful in some circumstances. 

However, as you yourself pointed out any process can change over time which means that external online content needs to be curated, deleted and updated over time. 

I'd well imagine the comments section would fill with more questions prompted by the content. Who's responsible for answering those? Although, on the flip-side, a YouTube channel could be a great driver of new users. 

 Then there are the various versions of CT (website, android & IOS apps), as well as the various external navigation devices and apps. That's a whole lot of hardware & software to have access to and familiarity with. 

Finally, there is the attitude of the folks requesting assistance. The ones who can't be bothered to provide the basic information requested, check out the help pages or search the forum are hardly likely to spend much time checking out a video or videos. I'm not sure that all posters are genuine users either. 

However, this general theme has been knocking around my head for a while, especially since the revamped search function was launched. I wonder would the addition of key words within a thread be a useful way to bump up the effectiveness of the search function?

Given that most threads are short, it shouldn't be beyond the bounds of possibility to run the text through some AI, pick put the keywords and then add these keywords to the thread?

I am not a technically-minded person so I may be talking codswallop. :-)
