Myself and friends just cant work this out. I am off cycling in the mountains of Northern Spain on Monday. There will be times when there is no internet reception.. We need to download routes and to be able to read them off line.
I have tried downloading one of the squares containing the routes then going in to airplane mode, but it just doesnt work for me. This is what I have done.
Open app. Display route I want to ride. Go to settings/offline map. Click on the area I want to download. It turns from purple to green. Tap download. Test by closing app and switching to airplane mode. Open app. Open routes. This opens a page titled. Downloaded routes. It is blank.
Can anyone help. It doesn't seem as straightforward as I had hoped... Thanks, Tony.

Tony, I'll try to help.
Whatever you think, I strongly suggest that you try this locally: ie plot a route now around you, download the map, download the route and try it out offline. In my experience trying to manage a route here for over there can have complications that we won't have when we're over there.
You seem to have downloaded the map and checked that the map has been downloaded by closing & reopening the app and checking that the appropriate area is green.
However, you make no mention of downloading the route. I think that this is key.
Online, open your routes, hold the appropriate route and you should have the option of downloading the route.
Here is an image from the app (android)
The routes Jun 11 and weekend ride have not been downloaded. 66.6 offroad & 40km off road have been downloaded.
Now, in the Android App (IOS may be different) and with data/wifi off if I open the app and click on the "Routes" button it brings me to the 'Route Folders' option which is blank & empty.
However, if I click on the "My Journeys" (green text) option I can tap on my 'Downloaded Routes'. Selecting the appropriate route will open it. All offline.
Job's done!
I think you're forgetting to download the route as well as the map. And the "My Journeys" being different to "Routes" is unfortunate.
A picture to demonstrate "Routes" and 'My Journeys'
To ease your mind a little further, I found very, very few places in even the remotest parts of Spain without data coverage. Unless you're staying in the wilds, sleeping under a tarp I'd be very surprised if there is no data or source of public WiFi at the start of your day (when you really need it). Also, northern Spain is well used to many foreigners making their way to Santiago so services are quite good. They've seen and heard it all!
Spain is great! You're in for a wonderful time!
I cannot see the elevation profile button on my iPhone or computer, even when both are on-line. How to get it to appear?
Larry, First of all, this link might help you with the basics of CT on the website. There should be an app specific 'help' page on the app, probably under 'Settings' in IOS.
On your computer, the elevation icon (2 mountains) is on the left side of the map screen under 'Route Tools'.
On your app, it should just be a matter of placing thumb/finger on the bottom of the screen and flipping up.
