The route from Chester to Chester YHA takes you to a golf course instead of the YHA itself. Not a major problem but worth mentioning.

This is a slightly odd one. As I expect you are aware, cycle.travel draws on Open Street Map, a community mapping scheme.

This shows the service road with Allowed Access as "All", including Bicycles.

However, it cuts through the perimeter of the main YHA area, which has been tagged as "Residential". I assume that C.T therefore avoids it.

I have changed the tag to "Commercial", which I hope will sort this out when C.T takes an update.

As posted elsewhere, there has been an update to the cycle.travel map:

https://cycle.travel/forum/thread/7464

However, this has still not rectified the problem that C.T refuses to allow you to route to Chester YHA. This is odd, because another route planner (cyclestreets) works correctly.

I wonder if the C.T processing has worked completely, as I notice that the Dorset village of Sixpenny Handley still shows as "Six Fingered Handley" at some zoom levels. A mischievous person edited the Open Street Map, but I know that this was corrected some months ago.

There are various layers of caching, so even though the map update is done, that doesn’t mean all zoom levels will instantly reflect the changes.

On Chester YHA, this is because it’s at the end of a long dead-end service road, and cycle.travel doesn’t route along dead-end service roads unless they’re expressly marked as allowing bikes. I’ve just tweaked this particular case and it’ll show through in the next update.
