Taunton, Somerset. On the website, the entrance to the Bridgwater Road Aldi supermarket is causing route planning problems, preventing travel from south to north, even though there’s two way traffic and a cycle lane. Cyclists are being diverted an additional 5 km.

Nothing as exciting as a portal, Green Thorn :-)

Approaching Aldi from the north is no problem, the issue exists if wanting to approach from the south, suggesting an error in the underlying data. Most of the bike route planners will have the same issue. (I'd guess the bike paths are listed as one-way).

The way to solve this for everyone is to edit the underlying OSM data.

Alternatively, if you're certain that it's safe we can use a viapoint to probe how far we can get to the Aldi, drop the viapoint at that location, then using the 'direct to end' feature use CT to draw a straight line to the Aldi (or the access point closest).

A section of road was mistakenly marked in OpenStreetMap (cycle.travel’s source data) as being oneway for bicycles. I’ve now fixed this and c.t will reflect this next time it takes a data update.

Amazingly this has been wrong for 10 years without anyone noticing!

Thank you HobbesOnTour and Richard Fairhurst for the explanations and solution.
