Trying to download maps, but unsure which maps have been downloaded and which yet to go.
What is the light green area, dark green area, and what colour when that segment of map has been downloaded?

Alan, I'm not sure what system you are using but on Android my downloaded maps show up as green squares on the "big map".
If I select another "square" to download it will appear as a lighter shade of green until I hit the "Download" button on the bottom right of the screen.
The "square" on the left is downloaded, the square on the right is selected for downloading (but not yet downloaded) and the others are not downloaded at all.
All this may be different on the ios system :-)
