I must have pressed the wrong button at some point but I can't work out how to fix this.
When I start navigating, the green "me" dot moves along the blue route line, but the area covered by the map stays still and eventually the green dot moves off the edge of the frame, and I have to re-centre it manually. Presumably the re-centring should be happening automatically?

Once you’ve moved the map, it won’t auto centre any more (as otherwise it’d be annoying if it kept recentring while you were trying to look at another area of the map). To go back to the current location, tap the location button in the top right - it’s like an arrowhead pointing northeast.

Richard's suggestion should fix it for you. Tapping that location button in the top corner resets it to following your current location automatically again.
