I hope nobody minds me asking a Garmin question rather than a cycle travel one, but this forum seems to provide helpful answers and I am not sure where else to turn.

I have always downloaded maps for my edge 530 from http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/ as it's easy, up to date and I can get a map of the area I want rather than the whole of Europe which Garmin provide through the annual updates. However, when I tried to do this a couple of weeks ago, I got put in a queue of over 600 days. Thinking this was a mistake I waited, but it appears that something is wrong as no email has arrived telling me it is ready to download. It also appears that downloads now have to be of entire countries rather than smaller user generated areas.

I would be most grateful if someone could tell me if there is a way to make this site work or let me know of other sites with free routable maps, preferably with a cycling layer. My main concern is file formats. I worry about putting something inappropriate in my edge and finding I no longer have a map.

And, while I am here, I would like to take the opportunity to thank Richard for cycle travel and the continual improvements he is making to it. I particularly like having elevation in feet as I am somewhat old fashioned.

Hi Martin,

I too lament the passing of garmin.openstreetmap.nl :(

try https://extract.bbbike.org/ . There's also a list of other providers at https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OSM_Map_On_Garmin/Download
