Is it just my imagination, or is the "nearby accommodation" suggestions not as good as it used to be?  I'm finding I always now have to go the booking.com site to check if my route does or not have accommodation, which makes route planning just a little more tricky. Quite regularly, it seems that hotels that I would have expected to have been on booking.com for a long time, don't appear as "nearby accommodation". eg, a single example being "The Feathers", Pocklington.  Whole areas can seem to be devoid of accommodation, until I look at booking.com.

Presumably, it's all do with syncing the booking.com site with cycle.travel... are there any insights you can provide?

Yes, there are challenges with that. It's something I'm working on and have a few possibilities I'm exploring, but as you can appreciate it's not always straight-forward when a third party is involved!

The best I can suggest and one I have used is to make a copy of the cycle.travel route, then open Google on your computer then look at both your route and Google and ask Google to tell you where the hotels are. It's what I do. It is inconvenient but it works.

We experienced this in August and September as we cycled Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Germany. This site got us close then we used Booking.com and Google map to fine tune our search.
