When following a route and using the web version ‘your location ‘ could always be found by tapping the ‘pointer/arrow’ on the left side of the screen and a blue dot would appear at my location . When I do that now the message is returned ‘ cannot find your location’, but it clearly can because the map ‘moves’ to be centred on my location. However what is now missing is the ‘blue dot’ at my precise location. This blue dot is present on the app version. Is there a reason for this discrepancy ?

This usually happens if you’ve accidentally prevented the website from having access to your location.

If you’re using Chrome you can check this by clicking the padlock on the left of the address bar, then ‘Site settings’.

In Safari, right-click in the address bar and choose ‘Settings for cycle.travel’.
