I've used the website for years to plan circular routes, but now it seems to be different. Before it would take me through parks and along canals and near sites of beauty, but now I just get main roads. Usually I could set it to 40km or so and it would take the same sort of route every time, but now it takes me strange places down main roads, and seems to avoid parks at all cost.

Is there a setting or something ive somehow changed?

Can you give an example?

Josh, you've given zero info so forgive me if I'm being too basic.

I'm assuming that you're using the 'Suggest a ride' feature based on the 'set it to 40km' statement. Have you checked the type of route you have selected? 'Any', 'Paved', 'Gravel' etc. will all present different options. (The same applies to 'normal' routing, also.) Depending on where you are 'Routes' may well direct you on more roads and my experience is that bike routes, especially long-distance ones, often neglect local highlights in favour of the 'longer' perspective.

A general comment in relation to the 'Suggest a ride' feature is that oftentimes changing the start point, even just a few km, can jolt the routing engine into different options. This, of course, is on top of the 'extra' options revealed by clicking on 'Suggest  ride' again. And again.
