A bug with the android app?
If you go off-route and press Reroute when prompted the screen never dims again, even if you are back on route. If you go off-route and hit Ignore it behaves normally.
It isn’t disastrous, the app still works after rerouting, it just wastes battery.

That’s a curious one – I can’t instantly see why that might be happening! I’ll take a look.
Just to note that this is still an issue on my android phone. If you go off route and hit recalculate the screen stays illuminated, even when you are long since back on route.
It is as if a "stay-on" flag is set when you go off route. Then when you exit the recalculate subroutine the flag is not removed.
