Volume of spoken directions again

Can I echo the post by Moto Way of 20th November?  I find the volume in the Android app too quiet while riding.  This is odd as Google maps, OSMAnd and other mapping apps give much louder directions.  There doesn't seem to be a reason why CycleTravel should be so quiet.  Uhless I am using the wrong volume control?

Disappearing Maps

This is probably related to the offline maps issue.

My choice for navigating is the OS map on my android phone.  Having created a long route (~50 miles) I went over the whole route with the OS map selected, while I had wifi available, hoping the phone would at least temporarily store all the necessary map sectors.

It worked for about 20 miles, then the maps all disappeared leaving the blue route on a black screen.  I stopped for a coffee and used the wifi there to repeat the trick for the rest of the route.  Once again, after about another 20 miles all the maps disappeared.  So it appears the alternative maps can't be used for long journeys.

Anyone any ideas?

A further comment, although I have the Cycletravel maps for much of England available offline, I don't think the CT map has enough contrast.  Designers always need to imagine (or deliberatley look at) their creation in black and white or grey scale.  If it is readable then it will be OK in colour.

How to delete a route?

Having created several routes and saved them, how do I now delete those that I don't want to keep?  Eother in the app or on the web.

Comments on android app

Initially nothing worked. It wasn't until I downloaded offline maps that suddenly it started working.

Text is too small to read. If you are using this for navigation it has to be readable at a glance. In particular the bar along the bottom, both numbers and text, is too small.

There is not sufficient contrast on the cycletravel map between features and the background. The Wayfarer map is better.

An example of a display that can be read is the OsmAnd app, which you recommend for opening gpx files.

The display does not zoom in as you approach a turning.

Double tap to zoom in does not work.

If you go off route it doesn't recalculate to get you back on track, or better still give you the best route to your destination from where you are now. It just hoots and then does nothing.

The display does not switch to night colours after sunset.

Having said all that, I like the interface for designing a route, and the auto start.

The routes cycletravel comes up with seem more sensible than other apps.

I like the blanking of the screen between turns.

I appreciate the app is new to android (I am running android 14 on a Samsung S21+) and that things will change.

I will continue to use the Web version of cycletravel to design routes, but until I can see what it is telling me I think I will have to navigate with something else.

Text size

I've not yet used the (android) app in anger but it looks very promising.

Can text size be increased? In particular the bar along the bottom with speed, distance etc. Too small for me to see while riding.
