Hi ,

I can’t see how you import GPX from another planning tool eg Komoot into the app ? Is this possible? Thanks

For the app, find your GPX file in the Files app (or similar) on the phone, choose “Open with” and then select cycle.travel.

Ok I’ve looked for that option as used on other planning app but it doesn’t seem to appear as an option? Thanks for reply though

Matthew, there was a big red banner asking you to provide some info about app/website operating system etc when you posted. That info would be helpful!

Essentially, there are two stages:

1. Export a gpx file Komoot. It's not clear to me if you have done that.

2. Import that gpx track into CycleTravel. There are two ways to do that.

1. Do it on the website - that is what you have `found` in your third post. Save it and it should be appearing in your app.

2. Do it on the app:

Just find the GPX file in your email, on the web, or in the Files app, and tap to open it in cycle.travel. You might need to click a ‘Share’ button or similar for the phone to offer cycle.travel as a choice – sometimes the phone will default to displaying the file as text, or try to open it in another app.
(Note that there are countless confusing variants of GPX file: the app currently only opens GPX tracks and not routes.)

I cannot speak for the app, but certainly there is a limit on how big (or more accurately, long) a route can be to be imported. Routes that are too long cannot be imported. Also, be aware that CT may adjust the route on import, especially if the original uses the kind of off-the-beaten-track route that CT would not normally prefer or if the route is complicated - lots of criss crossing etc.

For 100% accuracy, the best option is to use the 'Trace' feature on the website. It will display the original route (no limit on distance that I have encountered) that we can then use to plot a CT version of the (dreaded) Komoot route.

Thanks Hobbes on Tour for all the info

I am now chasing a similar problem.

You say:

Do it on the website

However I can't see any instructions on how to do this, and can't find an obvious option on the website.

OK.

Found it.

Option on the My Routes page.

Now to find out how to tell CT to follow the original route and not offer "improvements".
