The reason I as is I'm doing some routing through Iowa and as the route passes through, what I think is a good size town, nothing shows. But I can find lodging on Google Map just .5 miles from the route.
It tries to find accommodation close to the route, but if there’s a stretch without any nearby accommodation, it will look a bit further afield. For example, on this route, the accommodation near Rhandirmwyn is a little further off the route because there’s nothing next to the route near there.
If it’s not finding accommodation close to the route that’s probably just because cycle.travel doesn’t have it listed – Google has the resources and the staff to index the entire web, whereas cycle.travel has to rely on the listings it gets from booking.com.
Okay, so Booking .com is what determines it.
