first of all - you are doing a fantastic job here. I'm a developer myself, so I know what it means to build software like this. Everything is perfectly well thought out, simple. It makes my life easier and is much better than commercial tools I've seen so far.
One very small suggestion: would it be possible to highlight the selected (yellow) path section in the left frame as well? That way it would be great to see which section is selected on the map - maybe with a blue background like in the hover effect?

For the highlight – if I understand correctly, are you suggesting that the blue highlight would basically mirror the selected section of path; so that clicking on the map would highlight the relevant section of instructions, and clicking on the instructions would keep that bit highlighted (rather than just on hover)?

It would have another advantage: if you plan a tour twice along the same route, you could see whether you chose the first stage or the return journey.
