When trying to use the suggest a circular route it always jumps to 'any' instead of 'paved'. So I have to do a workaround of generating a 'any' type of circular route and afterward changing the circular route to paved, but that makes some weird ones. So please just fix it so I can generate circular routes in 'paved' mode :)
Kind regards
Shmille

re initial disregard of Paved setting: as you say, the suggestions disregard a Paved setting and behave as if Any was specified. But when a suggested route is selected, clicking on Paved adjusts it, so its only one extra click, albeit somewhat odd that the initial "Paved" is ignored.
re weird results: It's not a function I use, as - regardless of the Any/Paved aspect - the results look a bit unsatisfactory when I generate them for an area I know. This seems a bigger issue to me. eg for Ponteland, on NW edge of Newcastle - so a gateway to lovely cycling territory on the little roads of Northumberland - many of the suggested routes seem drawn to the dedicated cycle paths of the more urban parts of the north east, which seems unhelpful. Ideally, perhaps something in the algorithm could be tweaked, to turn up a "prettiness" weighting? That would seem to better reflect what CTravel users are likely to be looking for in these circumstances. (However, I also appreciate there may well be underlying technical reasons constrain what is possible - and RF's time resources, too...)
I have exactly the same, I believe previosuly I could pick paved only routes and then choose recommended one.
Couple of different things here!
The way the algorithm works means it isn’t a simple change for it to generate paved routes. But it is very much on the list and I hope to have it done before too long.
On the Ponteland issue, I’m considering adding a little direction control so that you can suggest to it that (for example) you want routes to the north, or west, or whatever. That would give a bit more configurability in cases like this. (I’d like it personally so that I can have more routes in the Cotswolds and fewer in the Thames valley!)
Ability to influence the general direction for routes suggested by CTravel sounds good, Richard!
Meanwhile, some things need to be regarded as just "features". (If likely to endure, perhaps the help text could alert that results initially are always "Any", and give coaching on the one click needed to tweak the suggestion to Paved only?)
Users hopefully appreciate that you can't possibly do everything immediately; good things come to those who wait ...
