cycle.travel uses OpenStreetMap data which is created by volunteers, and so there’s no 100% guarantee – if someone has wrongly marked a path as ‘bikes permitted’ then cycle.travel might use that.
But OSM data is generally pretty good, and cycle.travel is cautious where the path is ambiguous (particularly in the UK). So most of the time it should be fine. You can double-check your route with the extra map layers – Ordnance Survey in the UK, IGN in France, and so on.
And if you do find a mistake in the data, you can fix it!
