Website: combine OS map & trace GPX; leave via points "off road"?

I've been trying to turn the Rebellion Way GPX into a cycle.travel trace; the upload tool did a reasonable job which I've improved to get this route. There are two points where I'm having difficulties (I've left markers), and I have a couple of related questions:
1. Is it possible to combine the "Trace GPX" function with the OS map display? Selecting "Ordnance Survey" from the layers dropdown then leaves me without the "Trace GPX" box available from that dropdown (even if I go back to cycle.travel - I have to reload the route page); and if I load up the GPX trace first, then it vanishes when I switch to the Ordnance Survey layer. [this would be useful to try and check how the OS thinks the GPX relates to tracks on the ground
2. Is it possible to add "via" points where cycle.travel thinks there isn't a track at all? If you look at the more Northern marker on this route, I want to go from via point 36 to the track junction where I left the marker, then follow the track West and up to the road at via point 38. But if I try and drag a via point there cycle.travel doesn't let me drop one, so I can't force it to go via that track in any way.

1 is something that has annoyed me in the past too! I’ve just fixed it so the GPX will stay around when you switch to/from the OS layer.

For 2, the ability to put a via point in the middle of a ‘Go direct’ section, I’m afraid this would be really complex and is unlikely to happen any time soon – sorry.
