It is probably user error but when using the app and following a route the map does not stay central and keep up with travel. I have to touch the screen to switch it on then move the map to centralise the icon. Tapping the triangle icon does not seem to work. Is it something in settings?
Also, I assume the screen switches off to save battery and only lights up within a certain distance of making a turn or a change in direction? IS this correct? Can the distance be varied?
How do you upload a file into the app? I am doing ride London 100 on Sunday and would like to use the file provided as a test?
Sorry to trouble people. Great app so far.

Tapping the little triangle at the top right should always bring it back to your location and then follow it until you next move the map. If not, then check that you’ve given cycle.travel permission to use your location – this is on your iPhone settings app; scroll down to cycle.travel and then check that ‘Location’ is set to ‘While Using the App’ or ‘Always’, and that ‘Precise Location’ is set.
Also in Settings, the screen switches off if you have ‘Dim between turns’ enabled. If you turn this option off then the screen will stay on.
You can upload a GPX file by going to https://cycle.travel/user/upload_route on the website – do read the disclaimers on the page. Once you’ve got it to your liking, save the route, and then it’ll be available from the app as usual. In the medium term I’d like to add a feature to load a GPX directly into the app.
Thank you for the prompt reply Richard. All understood.
