Sending to Garmin Connect silently fails from My Journeys page

If I try sending any journey to Garmin Connect from my journeys page, by clicking on the download icon and then choosing "send to Garmin Connect", then an overlay appears saying "Sending to Garmin Connect" but it does not appear in the list of courses on Garmin Connect.

If I instead go to the journey page and click on the "GPS" link etc. I get the "Sending to Garmin Connect" message, followed by a success message and it is immediately visible in my list of courses on Garmin Connect.

This is the case for the half a dozen journeys I have tried.
