DO NOT USE THIS ROUTE! The National Cycle Network route 56 running immediately West of the railway line adjacent to Bidston Moss is impassable. I tried in August - I had to walk and hack through a kilometre of heavily overgrown brambles two metres high. Sustained many bleeding scrapes to my legs. Bike itself collected lots of vegetation. AVOID until it's cut back.
