Suggested route through a walled private estate isn't possible due to locked 8' high wrought iron gates, which don't have the appearance of being opened for quite some time. Simple alternative route available. How best to flag this up?

I think the helpful people on the Cycling UK forum have answered this much better than I ever could! (Sorry, have been away for a few days, hence tardy reply.)
I won’t jump in and edit it in OSM in case you want to have a go first, but do yell if you get stuck and I’m happy to do so. I’m presuming it’s this gate, but now locked shut?
Hi Richard, yes the posts on the Cycling UK forum were very helpful. I was going to try and edit in OSM but feel rather daunted by it :(
I had intended to go back and photograph the gate and will try and do so this week.
Yes the photo you link above is the very one, although I've never seen it open myself and it now looks to have been locked for quite some time - possibly years?
Many thanks, Paul
What I do while travelling and notice issues in OSM, is I take a picture, copy/paste GPS coords in my smartphone explaining what the problem was, and edit OSM when I'm back home. I use Maps.me.
Alas Winfried I am blissfully smartphoneless ;) However I rode out there again on Tuesday with a camera. The previous time I could have sworn? the gates were secured by a rusty chain and padlock - so perhaps I was mistaken? They are in fact locked by a padlock inside an anti bolt cropper surround and possibly an additional integral lock?

I don't feel confident to edit in OSM, so perhaps Richard you might wish to if you have time - as my photos should confirm the correct relevant gate from the photo link you posted?
I simply tagged an existing node as Gate, and pasted the URL to one of the pictures you posted:
