I love the tiles feature of cycle.travel. There is one element I’d like to see though to make it even better. While there’s already the option to upload tiles from the app to the website; it would be really good to have tiles sync across devices if logged in to the same account. I use the iOS/iPad apps and tend to use the iPad to map my routes. I find this much easier than the website on that device. However without synchronised tile data I tend to need to have both the app and website open. Not a massive issue but also not the most convenient.
Am I missing something and it’s already a feature? Would reinstalling the app and not selecting Upload tiles on the iPad app essentially achieve the same thing?
I’m currently running the iOS 26 public betas and have two issues with the cycle.travel app which I’ve reported via the Feedback app. However I’m not sure if they’re reaching Richard Fairhurst the developer.
The first is that the voice prompts are using the Male voice even when Female is selected.
The second is that when loading previously saved routes the app often crashes and takes a number of attempts or reopening and reloading before it works. On the odd occasion it crashes when opening the app straightaway.
Other than the above the app seems to run fine under iOS 26. I hope these issues can be fixed soon. This is a great app and very much appreciated.
The mobile apps are fantastic and the best cycling app I’ve tried and is now my go to. However it would fantastic if a couple of the website features could be added. In the web route planner you are able to access these tools:
The most useful that is current missing from the app is the ability to save routes as different names so you can extended a route but keep the original if you want to. Alongside that, the ability to reverse routes (the circled icon) is something I really miss in the app.
Are these things that are on the roadmap please?
I’m loving the app and the route planning functions. I have a number of private journeys saved. However on some routes I have missed turns as the app hasn’t announced them. I only find out when the app sounds the alert to say I’m going the wrong way. I then check my route and find I should have taken a turn. This isn’t to do with lag in terms of location which on occasion I’ve also had experience of. In one instance that could have caused a serious accident for me as I had to make a sudden turn on a busy road.
