Road closures - Grrrrr

Hi Richard,

You may have noticed the Cotswolds Tourist Board has arranged 22 kingfisher art installations around, well, the Cotswolds.

So, it seemed like a nice idea to get me out and cycle round all of them (split into convenient sized route chunks).

My first chunk didn’t go exactly to plan as I was scuppered by road closures - seems to be a Glocs CC speciality at the moment.  Now there are road closures that don’t really affect a cyclist, and there are those that do - and the only diversion I could think of from Stow in the Wold to the Slaughters down the A429 (rather than the closed route via the Swells) was less than pleasant!

Anyway, it turns out there is a map that the County Councils use (One Network) that shows all the roadworks and road closures.  It takes a while, but by comparing the cycle.travel route with the One Network map you can see that your route will be ok.

But it got me thinking - is some automatic link from cycle.travel possible?  I was chatting to another “lost” cyclist trying to work out what to do about a missing bridge over the railway who’d planned his route on Strava - highlighting closed roads would give cycle.travel a huge advantage over other apps!

Thanks for a fantastic planner,

Colin
