We had time for a short holiday of four days. This we combined with a family visit. The first day we went from Boekel to Xanten and visited the Roman archeological parc. Route is not so interesting but the parc really is. The next day we cycled to Winterwijk. During the route you cycle a big part alongside the border between the Netherlands and Germany. Nice route with different landscapes.
The third day from Winterswijk to Groesbeek. During this day the landscape changes from wooded areas to the Rhine and Maas landscapes. Be aware of the ferry crossing over the Rhine. Check the website. The last day from Groesbeek to Boekel passing the Peel-Raam stelling a defence area from the beginning of WW2, You can check this site for the daily tracks.
Between April 12 and May 6 we cycled around Andalusia Spain. The original route is designed by Paul Benjaminse (https://www.cyclingeurope.nl/routes/andalusie/index.php). We made some small changes. It is a very nice route to get to know the very beautifull cities and villages of Andalusia. April and May is a good time of the year to cycle this route. Normally it is not too hot with nice sunny days. There are only a limited amount of campingsites on this route and these are full with people traveling by campervans. But hotels and hostals are relatively cheap during this time of year. The total route is about 1000 km and 11700 elevation meters.
I have made the stages public so you can find these on this website. Cazorla-Jodar-Jaen-Zuheros-Cordoba-Loro del Rio- Sevilla-Coripe-El Burgo- Antequera-Alhama de Granada-Granada-Ronda-Benalua-Huesa-Cazorla.
Nice route starting at our airbnb. Cold but sunny weather. Small roads and very quiet bigger roads.
We designed this route special for today. A new area close to home. After we did the trip we made a change to avoid the road through Koewacht and Stekene.
The route has a mixture of paved and gravel paths throught an agricultural area with remains of Spanish forts from the 16 century.
This route follows the Maas from Dinant to Dun-sur-Meuse ( Eurovelo 19) and than turns north to Rochefort. From Rochefort back to Dinant via de EuroVelo 5. The route from Dun-sur-Meuse to Rochefort is described in the Dutch cycle guide "De groene valleien fietsroute".
We did first the Euro Velo 19 along the Maas. This is a flat route. Than the route from Dun-sur-Meuse to Rochefort. This part has a lot of short climbs, especially between Marbehan and St Hubert.
We stayed at campsites in Dinant (Villatoile (nice but expensive),,Montthermé (Camping du port Diseur, very nice).,Inor (Camping les Bouleaux, basic but nice), Marbehan (Camping Alaska (Nice), Saint Hubert (Eurocamp, good restaurant).
You can also find the different tracks: Dinant-Montherme, Montherme-Inor, Inor-Marbehan, Marbehan-St Hubert and St Hubert-Dinant on this website.
