On mobile device
In your BROWSER of choice open any cycle.travel route
Towards top right, 3 horizontal bars - click on
‘Open in phone app’
Phone App - Click to open in app
You would expect the route to automatically open in the cycle.travel app. But it doesn't. It suggests using BikeGPX or OsmAnd. And if you click on that it just tries to get you to download a gpx file.
Is it possible to get ‘Open in phone app’ to open directly in the cycle.travel app?

You just need to tab the yellow bar / button that says 'Click to open in app'
(I was also somehow mislead by the links to the suggsted Apps below that button.
It gives these links regardless, if you have instelled them or not - and will bring you always only to Google Play - not the installed App.)
