Check out the Erewash cycle route from Langley Mill to Nott'm. It's around 30 miles along the canal & R Trent, nearly all off road. You can get a map from the Info Centre in the city. Enjoy
Forgot to add that you can get the train to Langley Mill for the start of the ride at the Basin on the canal.
