This is a varied alternative route to NCN 4 (the Kennet & Avon Canal) taking in several Wiltshire towns. It follows railway paths, unsurfaced byways, forest roads and the ancient Ridgeway, making this best suited to the hybrid or gravel bike rider. Among the many scenic highlights are Avebury's stone circle and the preserved, National Trust-owned village of Lacock. Unfortunately the lovely canalside path between Chippenham and Lacock is currently closed due to landowner issues.
