Most of this route forms the Avenue Verte from London to Newhaven. It starts, however, with the Waterlink Way from Greenwich, a traffic-free route following the Pool River towards Croydon. Residential roads and some attractive car-free paths, particularly around Caterham, lead to the junction with NCN 20 and the Avenue Verte at Redhill.
