The Flitch Way, from Stansted to Braintree, is surely one of those railways that would never be closed in modern times. The rail network's loss is our gain, as this 15-mile trail is a peaceful, wildlife-rich ride dodging heavy traffic on nearby roads. After Braintree, the route continues through Witham on country lanes.
