A carefully pieced-together tour up one side of the Firth of Forth, crossing at Stirling, and then back on the other.
It's fairly flat, though with the occasional short, sharp incline. The finest sections are where it clings close to the riverside, such as at Bo'ness, Kincardine and Burntisland, and around the Forth Bridge.
You could make a very enjoyable weekend route by riding from Edinburgh to Stirling along the south bank, back on the north bank to North Queensferry, then crossing back over on the bridge.
