A quiet lane route through the lush pastureland of North Shropshire and Cheshire.
You'll cross the Shropshire Union Canal several times, but these rural roads are much more suitable for cycling than the muddy towpath. The villages and towns along this route are a particular delight, especially little Audlem and the black-and-white buildings of Nantwich.
The route skirts the edge of Market Drayton, a busy market town. The chosen roads are not particularly inspiring so we’d suggest a slight diversion here. Either head into the town centre for pubs and cafés, or alternatively, follow the (newly resurfaced) towpath past Talbot Wharf and the visitor moorings.
