Route 71 is a connecting route from the Lakes to the Yorkshire Dales and Wolds. It’s pretty much country roads all the way, taking in the lovely towns of Appleby-in-Westmorland and Kirkby Stephen. The passage over the Yorkshire Dales is unforgettable, high moorland roads descending into Swaledale at Reeth.
