The newest route in the EuroVelo network, EV14 is a west-east route across Austria and Hungary. We say “west-east” because that’s the direction you’ll want to ride it in, starting in the Alps at Zell am See, and heading downstream for 750km to Budapest.
The slightly ungainly ‘Waters of Central Europe’ title reveals that this is another EuroVelo river route. Though EV14 was only designated as such in 2020, it actually combines several more long-established riverside routes on quiet roads and cycleways (around one-third is traffic-free). The best loved is rightly the Tauernradweg through the Alps, which forms the first part of the route.
