exporting turn by turn directions to google maps

Hi

I seem to be having difficulty exporting a route from cycle.travel to google maps. I am using the gpx option and when I import it into google maps I am getting the route ok but do not seem to be able to hear the directions. I notice that the size of the gpx file is very small so i wonder if I am exporting the turn by turn directions with the route? I also tried the other gpx option which gives a much larger file but still no directions. (yes, I have ticked the directions box)
