Apple Farm Chelmsford

From Harold Wood station to Laithcoats Farm, Beehive Lane, Galleywood, Chelmsford.

Slight adjustments to the start of the route, to go through Dagnam Park (gravel) where the deer roam free. Towards the end of the route there's a steep climb, up to 10%. After that, made a slight change to take a road through the housing estate, coming out almost opposite the farm entrance and avoiding most of Beehive Lane, which is too straight and too fast.

Laithcoats Farm grows many variety of apples and stocks many more, in addition to luxury farmshop goodies. Also a cafe and some farm animals. Closed at 5pm and on Sundays.

Harold Wood to Shoeburyness

Starting at Harold Wood station, this route avoids the steep climb of Old church Road (Langdon Hills) by cutting through the nature reserve. It also avoids the A13 staying to the north of it, picking a route through housing estates and a park, before it's all the way down to the sea front.

Tilbury to Kent

If I start right on top of Tilbury ferry, I can cross the Thames to anywhere in Kent. If I am a few millimetres off, I get routed via the Woolwich ferry. Why is that and what can be done about it?

Purfleet

From Harold Wood Station, through Emerson Park, via Hornchurch stadium and the Ingrebourne way (136) to Rainham Marshes. Along the Thames to Purfleet. From an estate with Lake District names, via Harris Carpets, find the Mardyke path to Davey Down, then Ockendon, Thames Chase, Upmister and Harold Wood Station.
