Turn by turn not available in north America?

Afternoon,

I've just had a look at some of my planned routes, and it seems like turn-by-turn routing is not available in North America at the moment?  I couldn't load directions between Burlington and Bowmanville (Ontario), or Cincinnati and Cleveland (Ohio), but routing works fine between Budapest and Szolnok, for example (Hungary).
