Scenic route from an urban start

A winding route from the heart of Slough around the edge ,of Windsor taking in Windsor Great Park, including The Village with its little shop and post office that serves hot drinks and has plenty of picnic tables.

The route recommended by Cycle Travel brought me out near the Ascot Racecourse and Ascot town centre. This was not ideal, as I then had to use a mixed cycle/pedestrian path along the main road towards Bracknell before diverting through housing estates on the many cycle paths.

I ignored the recommended roadside route through Crowthorne and instead headed for the Look Out at the north of Swinley Forest and followed the wider forest paths to an underpass taking me into the woods around Broadmoor Hospital, then onto Owlsmoor Road and the Meadows retail park (good cafes in M&S and Tescos).

From there it was a short road ride to the Hawley Lake woods, then another short road to the Fleet Pond woodlands and out at my destination.
