Maps on Garmin Edge

Hi,

If I export a route to Garmin Connect, then to the Edge 830, will the Garmin now use the OSM maps from cycle.travel, instead of its own maps? I am in Canada, and am wondering if I really need to buy the Garmin Europe maps for a UK tour. Will the Garmin simply use the OSM map I just sent over?
