Hi,

not sure if this is the right place, but the page is called "Feedback forum" so here it goes:

I found the app after looking for komoot alternatives. I was never actually a huge fan of komoot, but lately I started disliking it more, maybe because I am biased because of the bad press. But anyway I really liked cycle.travel because using it to plan the route it felt like the difficult things (e.g. modifying the route) were easy to do and the UI felt snappy. To be fair to komoot, I planned the route on my computer and not phone, but it felt just a lot easier to do on cycle.travel, and it was always a bit clunky on komoot. So I signed up as the coffee supporter for the next year, I hope I'll be able to use it a lot this year.

I wanted to go on a quick ride and try something relatively new and what it came up with was pretty good for my area. Like I said, I adjusted it a bit and this worked well and was easy to do. I was on two roads I somewhat frequently ride and the app found a good road between them. I did a small check also now by changing the gravel etc. options and the path it came up with makes sense.

One thing that didn't work on my test run was the "follow me" option on the map in the app, but I actually rechecked now and it zoomed in on the map and centered me on it, so I would assume it works now (it didn't do anything when I first tried it except hiding the button). It could be it was because I used an older Pixel 6 phone which I normally use for riding, but didn't update in a while. I updated Android since then and it now seems to work. In general it wasn't a big deal because it was an area I usually ride in, but it would be more important when I am somewhere where I'd never been. The UI of the web page looks a bit dated, but I honestly don't care about this at all since, like I said, the hard stuff seems to work really well, and that's a lot more important. Especially since I guess this is mostly a side project.

There is one buggy thing in the Android app, I often got the notification that it can't load my routes and that I should check my connection, but actually at the same time it was loading my journeys.

And a question: how does the option to always use GPS and have the screen switched off actually work?

tl;dr I like it and hope I get to use it a lot next year.
