Not a fun day!! Head winds and couple of heavy showers. The least interesting stretch so far - very bleak and flat. No sign of shops or cafes in the villages we passed through. We did cycle passed the river bridge - amazing feat of engineering. Just about to explore Magdeburg. Would be interesting to know what the route on the other side of the river was lime.

A long one from modlich to tangermunde, because no hotels to book 110km. From modlich, you cycle along the dyke with beautiful views. We passed a number of old border watch towers. First stop was at wittenberge. Pleasant town. Grabbed a coffe and coke. Next stop havelsberg. Through small villages and dykes covered in wildflowers. Biggest horse fair ever at havelsbeg. Town itself, v old, v quiet. Ride from there to tangermunde seemed very long. Not the most interesring stretch except for the amazing plum trees. Tangermunde stunning. Staying on rathaaus platz.
We left Boisinger heading for Bleckede. Saw storks in the field. Took ferry across to Bleckede. Charming small town. Cycling through countryside and woods. Lovely small town on an island i Hifelsburg. On to Domitz which has an amazingly preserved star shaped fortress. From there to Modlich through small river side villages. Modlich itself very pretty and very good night at gasthaus, v good evening meal and breakfast. Have seen lots and lots of herons. And i think giant egrets
