This fabulous 450km route between Paris and Mont St Michel is becoming one of France’s most popular cycle tours. Long stretches on railway paths are connected by quiet country roads, not entirely flat but with forgiving gradients.
The route has been chosen to pass through interesting towns and villages, including the lace-making capital of Alençon; Nogent le Rotrou with its medieval castle; the cathedral city of Chartres; and Rambouillet, where the opulent château was used by French presidents until recent years. The entrance to Paris is via urban cycleways that take you directly to the Île de la Cité.
