I recently used my mobile phone cycle.travel app for navigation, it worked very well and was very good on battery use. It doesn't seem to zoom in reliably when approaching turns etc. but that might be something I haven't done correctly.
However, I still need to run my GPS device in parallel so that I can record the ride. It would be awesome if the app could link up with Strava or perhaps an alternative so that rides can be recorded.
Otherwise I wish Richard and everyone else a wonderful Christmas and a safe cycling New year!
This ride was created by David Searle to celebrate the 100th birthday of the ALC. The ride was on 26 May 2001 and that weekend the ALC camped close to the original site in Wantage, and were able to the visit the original site which is now part of a private garden.
Half way around the circuit there is the Pendon Museum which displays models of the area from the 1920s and 1930s.
There is also the Hampden Monument at Chalgrove, commemorating John Hampden who was killed at the battle of Chalgrove Field in 1643.
